Engine coolant heaters

Engine Heating & Cooling Systems. Change vehicle. Internal combustion engines create an enormous amount of heat. That heat has to be transferred away from the engine to prevent overheating and damage to internal parts. Too much heat may be the enemy, but too little heat can cause problems as well. The radiator may be the most well known component in the cooling system, but is up to the water pump and thermostat to control the flow of antifreeze through the system.

The thermal energy gained is then distributed through the vehicle's own heat exchanger as forced hot air and this heats the interior of the vehicle via existing air vents. The engine is warmed up with the residual heat in the cooling water.
The cooling system circulates a coolant through the engine that absorbs heat. That heated coolant then runs through the radiator, where the heat dissipates. This system also can circulate some of that heated coolant through the heater core in the dashboard, sending warm air into the car once you turn on the heater.
